The Tate Modern Museum was amazingly awesome. It has four huge free galleries, and two galleries with temporary exhibitions that you have to pay for (which we didn't visit, but there was so much free stuff to look at it didn't really matter). I was really thrilled to see lots of Mark Rothko (who is a favorite of mine, because he's so ridiculous). There was some awesome stuff by Matisse and Picasso there, just stuck in with other artists that laypeople like me have never heard of--and some Magritte (not Cest ne pas un pipe, but some other cool ones) and lots of cool contemporary art. By contemporary I guess I mean from during my lifetime--super cool. I forget that paintings from 1998 are already almost 10 years old... vintage.
This is just a little urban blip on my journey, but I'm really glad that I came here for just a few days, to get a taste of London. I know someday I'd like to come back... maybe when I've got some more dough to spend... 1.65 pounds for a coffee in a 6oz cup... ugh. But the museum was free, which was awesome. And the way it should be, I guess... I like how they had the Tate set up with free galleries and paid galleries, but you don't feel ripped off if you don't see the pay exhibitions.
